WHY would the first thing you show be sanding the saddle?!?!? That should be the VERY LAST part of the setup!

that neck joint doesn't look that great but it's still better than 99% of les pauls gibson makes. gibson tenons are in there so sloppy that they had to extend the neck heel to cover the joint. You know how you'll play a bunch of les pauls and then you come across one that sounds magic, just head and shoulders above the rest? That's the oddball that has a proper neck set with the tenon in full contact with the guitar. They should all sound like that.

The bridge just started pulling up on my 1866 Legend 12 string. I'm on here trying to research how to remove it. So far every video starts with the bridge removed. What did the poster mean by "route the bridge off?" Do you not gently heat the area to loosen the glue? Thanks!

Where'd ya get it? That's a pretty finish! Is that a one piece neck? Or is there a scarf joint? Seemingly, kinda proof that even seven years ago, they weren't looking all that bad! Yeah, you have to update the pickups etc. but often times, you'll do that anyway.

Hey...great to see this video. It's 8 years old, but still exactly what I want to do. I'm building a version of that same guitar to replicate my father's old Harmony. And that's the wiring I want to incorporate. I'm basically using an LP wiring harness and want to add the 5th knob for master volume. is it just to add the 500K pot to the output to the jack?

Good video overall. But when you set intonate the strat you need to tune it and hit the tremolo bar up and down a bunch of times. Then again about four times and the intonation will be good and it will stay in tune. Oh yeah stretch the strings!! A bunch of times! Cheers from Hawaii

A little less 'schtick' and more 'slick' woulda been nice, or even something "accurate" like the name of the specific Fishman system being installed (they make several)? Duh! Dude sounds like an overly-animated z-gener reincarnation of Vince, selling the ShamWow!

If your saddle needs to be too low, make sure the angle of the string going to the pin is correct. If not make the slot towards the saddle longer so you get the right angle. Ive been rebuilding a lot of Yamahas lately and modding them etc. Nice guitars when ya do a few things on them. Also the nut slots sometimes are too high. So slot the nut and legnth the slots as the string goes towards the wood pin after the saddle. Get that angle right. What ive done to Yamahas recently (about 8 of them) Replace nut with bone, saddle with intonated bone, plastic pins with Ebony or Rosewood. Polish the frets and check for high frets etc. Adjust the neck. Sand the clear off the back of the necks on certain models and put tung oil on after. (Get rid of that sticky feel on some of the Yamaha models). COndition the FB. Round FB edges. Ive also been installing pickups as well into these. So ive been installing end pin jacks etc. So far ive done the following models in the last 3 months or so. F310 (older model) F325 (head stock repair) F325 (older model) F325D (newer model with crack in the top) FD01S (older version) F335 (newer model) FG700 (Older model) FG800 (new model) But ive done this to all of the guitars and they went from, ok playing and sounding guitars (sometimes no good playing haha) stock. When you replace the nut and saddle and pins, the guitar comes alive and all of a sudden a cheap acoustic is making your jaw drop. Unreal. If you look around you can get a bone nut and saddle for $8 shipped. Wood pins $6-10. I use the same wood the bridges are on that specific guitar. So if its an ebony bridge, i use ebony pins. Or if its rosewood the bridge... i think you get it. I try to match. So for about $20 you can take an ok sounding acoustic and make it sound and play like butter. Ive seen a many folks try one of the guitars ive modded or repaired and they are like wow ! A cheap Yamaha sounds like this ! One thing ive been doing for 20 years and been turning a lot of people on to is using Electric strings without a wound G on your acoustics. 11 gauge minimum. At least try it before you judge, the guitars are no longer stuff in bending and what not, strings last longer and can take a dark sounding acoustic and bring it to life along with the other things ive done. Another thing i do to my own guitars and i have many friends who do the same. If you have a cheaper acoustic, strip the clear coat off the top. The thicker the clear coat, the duller the guitar will sound. A thin thin coat is ok. But a lot of these have thick coatings. THe wood vibrates freely without that clear coat. Use Scotch sanding pads. In about 30 mins you can get down thru the coating. The back and sides do not need to be sanded as they do not effect the tone like the top is. But thats what i do with cheap Yamahas these days. Ive given away 4 and im giving away 2 more. A lot of my friends play guitar and some of their reasons why the didnt like acoustics, disappeared after i did this. These are also great guitars to learn on. I got one of my guitars for $25 recently a F325 and it was in pretty good shape. The one that had the headstock crack was free. Other than the 700 and 800 i havnt spent more than $80. So taking a $80 guitar and getting it to sound like a $250 guitar is possible imho with these. I like Yamaha as the best cheaper acoustics of all the brands. Other brands ya really need to spend $350+ to get a decent model. Yamaha def has one up on a lot of other companies being able to produce these. One thing i will say is the newer 325's and 800's dont have rosewood boards anymore. Also the 325 and FD01S have a thicker binding on the neck that feels cheap. I also noticed on the 325D that the it was the worst sounding one of all of these recent jobs. I mean it sounded blah stock, the older models sound much much better stock and even better after what i do. So if you want a Yamaha stick to the older ones or models that have rosewood boards still. My fav of all of these is the FG700, that is a great guitar. Followed by the 800 and then the 335. Anywhoo this video interested me, thanks.

When you drilled your hole with that huge drill bit that you used it does not start in the center just because there is a hole there your whole will move or travel depending on where the drill bit B into the wood properly drill that hole you would use a wood rasp which would stay in the center of your existing tuner hole that would account for your tuners being misaligned by fractions of inches
